The other issue that persists is the following:Īfter many trials and errors I understood that when I switch to the MBA (hence it's as if I connected a monitor to it), if it's running but closed Big Sur crashes. ![]() It hasn't been like a breeze at the beginning because the MBA is connected to a Thunderbolt 3 dock and I guess you know v11.1's bug with TB3. I am using both a brand new MacBook Air M1 running Big Sur 11.2.3 and a late 2012 Mini connected via a KVM switch (DisplayPort) to the same monitor, keyboard and mouse. I'll try installing the recent 12.3 update, but I didn't see any mention of this sort of fix in the notes.īig Sur logs out when connecting an external display Hi all This seems to be an issue that has been around since the introduction of Monterey, and doesn't seem to have been addressed. I just have a single monitor hooked up to my Mini. Here on the Mini, of course, I can't do that. People have been advised to designate the Macbook screen as their main screen. I've read other reports of this behaviour, but they seem to tend to be Macbook related, and have something to do with having an external display connected. I can't predict when this behaviour will happen sometimes I'll go for days without it happening. For instance, it's happened in Illustrator and Photoshop, but also Pages and other programs. This behaviour doesn't seem to be limited to any particular program. If I close the app and restart it, the ability to get open or save dialogs returns. ![]() I'll select Open or Save from the File menu (or press the keyboard shortcuts) and nothing happens, no open or save dialog boxes appear. Programs will work normally for a while, but eventually I lose the ability to open or save documents. So this has been happening to me ever since I got this M1 Mac Mini (a decision I greatly regret.) ![]()
